Cobra

The COBRA lighting fixture has been specially developed for lighting streets, roads, cycle-paths, parking areas, crossings etc. It uses our unique optical system to achieve greater light spread, more even light and lower energy consumption. The luminaire can be mounted on a straight post as well as a post arm. The articulated mounting allows installation regardless of the angle of the arm.

The Cobra road lighting fixture was developed by Prismalence AB in association with Nordic Light AB to create a lighting system with a low total cost for its lifespan.

The lighting fixture is manufactured in pure aluminum with a hardened optical glass lens. Lens and reflector are optimized to each other to ensure as little loss of light as possible. The light source consists of a ceramic metal halogen lamp and there are 35, 70 and 100 watt varieties. The lamp provides a very white light with an RA index over 90. The lamp is powered by an electronic device that not only prolongs the lifespan of the lamp but also experiences less energy loss than "ordinary" power devices. The optic system can be selected with different spreading angles up to 162 degrees.

This facilitates an optimum lighting area when replacing existing lighting fixtures with small post distances and for new lighting systems the distance can be increased to >80 metres. Another possibility is to remove every other light point in an existing system in order to reduce maintenance costs, etc.

By changing a standard 70W HPS street luminaire (which burns an average of 3800 hours per year) to a Prismalence CDM 35W, a Co2 reduction of 57kg is achieved. This corresponds to the emissions made by a modern car driving 438km (according to the new EU norm of 0.13kg Co2/km). 

By changing a 125W Hg luminaire to a Prismalence CDM 35W, a Co2 reduction of 147kg is achieved. This corresponds to the emissions made by a car driving 1130km.

The calculations above are made with a Co2 emission value of 0.43 kg/KWh, which is an average for European electrical power production.
